How do I add a mailto link to open an email?

With the editor you can place mailto frames on any page/spread in the publication. When your visitors click on such a frame, an email with the set addressee(s), subject and message will open instantly.

ADD A MAILTO FRAME

1. On the homepage of your dashboard, move your mouse pointer over the cover of the publication you want to edit and click on LINK EDITOR.

2. Click on OPEN DRAG & DROP EDITOR.

3. On the page overview, click on the thumb of the spread on which you want to add a mailto link frame.

4. Click on LINK TO URL. On the spread a hyperlink frame is placed instantly.

If you cNOTElick twice on LINK TO URL, two frames will be placed on top of each other.

5. Drag the frame (with your left mouse button held down) to the desired location. Drag the corners and sides to resize the frame.

6. In the URL section, type a text according the following example text.

mailto:[email protected],[email protected]?subject=This%20is%20the%20subject&[email protected]&body=This%20is%20the%20body

[email protected] = first main addressee
[email protected] = second main addressee
[email protected] = addressee that gets a CC email
This%20is%20the%20subject = subject text (%20 refers to a space as blanks cannot be embedded)
This%20is%20the%20body = message body (%20 refers to a space as blanks cannot be embedded)

7. See below if you would like to set a mouse over frame text and color or if you would like to copy or remove the frame.

8. CLICK OUTSIDE THE FRAME TO SAVE ALL SETTINGS MADE.

9. Click on PREVIEW at the top right of your screen to preview the publication with the added frame(s). The publication will open directly at the specific spread so that you can quickly double-check if everything is ok.

10. Close the preview publication browser screen. If you want to edit an existing frame, just click on it and make the desired changes.  Click outside the frame again to save your new settings.

11. If you're done with adding interactions, close the editor browser screen to go back to your dashboard homepage with your publications overview.

IfNOTE your visitor is using Internet Explorer and clicks on the mailto link frame, an email as well as a blank browser screen will be opened. Other browser such as Chrome, Firefox and Safari function correctly without a blank browser screen being opened additionally.

All added frames are shown permanently in the editor so you can see at a glance if all frames are positioned well. In the online publication frames are only shown when hovering over a specific frame (see below how to set the mouse over frame color).
